All programs at the Kent County Community Center require a
Facility Access Card for patrons twelve years of age and older.

YOUTH SPORTS EQUIPMENT GRANT

The Kent County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is accepting requests for proposals for youth sports equipment funding. In order to be eligible for this funding, a representative of the youth sports organization that is submitting the proposal must have attended the annual Sports League Presidents meeting hosted by Kent County Parks and Recreation annually.

*The cost of U.S. Lacrosse Membership is included in our registration fee! You do not need to register with U.S. Lacrosse. U.S. Lacrosse membership numbers will be distributed to players at the start of the season.

Registration for youth lacrosse begins January each year.Registration deadline is March 1. Registration can be completed online at www.KentYouthLacrosse.org. The cost (subject to change) includes U.S. Lacrosse membership. Boys equipment can be rented for a fee of $40, and requires a $200 deposit. Facemask Policy :
All players will be required to wear an approved softball facemask while they are actively participanting on the field during a game.

Come be a part of a rich history of great wrestling in Kent County. The Junior Wrestling Program is a member of the Upper Chesapeake Wrestling League, giving young wrestlers the opportunity to compete against some of the best wrestlers in Maryland. A minimum number of 12 participants must be registered in order to continue this program.

KCPR's Basketball League places an emphasis on fun, skill development, equal participation, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Volunteer coaches will cover the fundamentals of defense, shooting, dribbles, as well as the rules and strategies of the game. Players practice and play games with volunteer coaches officiating.

The program is designed to educate boys and girls on the fundamentals of Track & Field by teaching sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership and fair play. It will offer athletes the opportunity to develop skills to compete in meets and be a part of a program that encourages and promotes the developing of friendships, support and encouragement of fellow athletes, and above all GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP. Running shoes are recommended for the program but are not required.

The Start Smart Sports development program is an exciting and innovative approach to helping children as young as three years old learn and develop basic motor skills - like throwing, catching, kicking, and hitting - with their parents! This is a great way to help children to learn skills and build confidence as well as develop friendships and parental relationships. Each sport meets for 5 sessions over a 5 week period:

INDOOR BATTING CAGE

For sport leagues and individuals who want to keep their skills sharp throughout the winter months, the batting cage is sure to attract many users. Availability of batting cage will be limited due to high interest so don’t delay in securing your rental dates. A private rental of Gym B at the Community Center is required. PLATFORM TENNIS COURTS

Platform Tennis, often referred to as Paddle Tennis, is an American racquet sport enjoyed by thousands of people of all ages. It is the only racquet sport that players can enjoy outdoors in cold weather. This unique appeal attracts people who desire fresh air, competition, and social engagement-all on a chilly winter's day or night. Newly relocated at Worton Park, the sport will be played at both highly competitive and purely recreational levels. And because it is easy to learn, it is enjoyed by players as young as eight and as old as old bones allow. Secure your rental dates now! Led by Sobaye Scott, Head Coach of the Kent County High School Boys Varsity Basketball program, this clinic will focus on learning the fundamentals of the game and having fun with games and contests. Athletes will work on: shooting, closing out on a defender, dribbling, defense and offensive drills and passing.

All Kent County Parks and Recreation youth sport program volunteers and coaches are required to complete a Volunteer Employee Application Packet, as well as, consent to criminal records history searches. Background search guidelines are followed as recommended by the National Recreation and Parks Association.
